Ladies and gents, once again USA faces Mexico in this year’s CONCACAF Copa Oro (Gold Cup). Also once again, I have split loyalties. I’m so bummed that this year we’re hosting (it’s in Pasadena, y’all) and I will be stuck watching it at home rather than in at the Rose Bowl. Demsey, Donovan, and Onyewu will be representing the red, white and blue - three players I really enjoy watching. Chicharito will be playing for Mexico…enough said. The winner of this tourney gets to represent CONCACAF at the FIFA Confederations Cup in Brazil (although 2013 is a long ways away) No matter who wins, both teams are reppin’ the North American zone, and for that, I am proud :) Stay tuned for what’s looking to be a well-played match.

P.S. Chicharito’s slightly offside (but still excellent) goal against Honduras last Wed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vqCxl0FtqJg

P.P.S. Check out the matchup trailer on foxsportsnet.com

Apparently, Iker’s WAG Sara Carbonero threw a fit when Iker was being interviewed by other female journalists (specifically, Mexican journalist Gaby Elizade).

“It was my turn.  While I was waiting for the other journalist to come out, his girlfriend Sara and I saw each other.  She then went into the room, and a few minutes later, they came out to tell me that I wasn’t going to get my interview.  As I left, I received an apologetic message from the person who had brought Iker to Mexico.  It was Sara Carbonero who had a jealousy attack.  She told Iker that she didn’t want me to interview him, and that’s the way it was, I had to leave,” said Gaby.

“What I want is to be needed. What I need is to be indispensable to somebody. Who I need is somebody that will eat up all my free time, my ego, my attention. Somebody addicted to me. A mutual addiction.”

A small fence separates densely populated Tijuana, Mexico, right, from the United States in the Border Patrol’s San Diego Sector. Construction is underway to extend a secondary fence over the top of this hill and eventually to the Pacific Ocean.

I found this on the Internet and it reminded me of my Aunt that lives there in Tijuana, Mexico. She used to live in this one house that was next to a prison, and I remember every time I was outside playing with my cousins, there were many prisoners escaping the prison. I remember seeing one that still had his handcuffs on and just wondered how the hell he got out.You also can’t be walking around at night because crazy shit happens. One time, my naive older brother decided to walk around alone, that’s when he witnessed some guy stealing a car that nearly killed the victim during broad daylight. Yeah, Tijuana is crazy! You also got to be extremely careful when driving because Mexican drivers will be pulling out of nowhere… But don’t get me started on Juarez.

Mexico: Impunity and Profits

“If you want to know one of the biggest causes of death in Mexico, it’s the American drug prohibition.” - Charles Bowden, author of Murder City

Al Jazeera English’s Fault Lines examines the drug war in Ciudad Juárez and asks how human life there came to be worth so much less than the drugs being trafficked through.

In Ciudad Juárez alone, more than 8,000 have been killed and 230,000 displaced since Calderón launched his war on the cartels in 2006, reports Fault Lines.

Although a few of the shots filmed at the El Pastor’s clinic seemed unnecessary, if not exploitive, this humanistic look at Ciudad Juárez as a city caught in the middle of treaties and turf wars is worth a look.

Me estoy haciendo tantas ilusiones! Por presiento que si vamos a ir!!! Pero aun no quiero emocionarme! Tengo miedo que al final me digan que no se va poder…

Ojala y todo salga bien para volver a estar con mi familia y sobre todo con mi amor Isaac! :D
