House. Fresnillo, Mexico. 2007

Peace …

I wonder how things would be different if I
had darker skin, spoke Spanish, if I
used to walk the streets of Guadalajara
and wore skirts; shorts, perhaps took care
of my hair more often.

I wouldn’t be myself.

I wouldn’t be the awkward Pakistani, sometimes-
confused-about-her-sexuality, Muslim, Urdu-and-
English-speaking girl who fell in love

not once
not twice
but three times …

for three
different
Mexican natives.

Naked Bike Ride Mexico City

Naked and partially clothed cyclists took part in a demonstration in Mexico City on Saturday to promote alternative forms of transport and to demand better safety for riders.

Mexico.

Mexico’s cuisine is known for being a mix of tastes and flavors, whether it’s sweet and salty, sweet and spicy or just plain hot- and Mexican candy is no different.

For instance, Tamarind is a tropical fruit used in a wide variety of candy. It can be as simple as a plastic spoon covered with pulp and sprinkled with chili, to a small container filled with sweetened tamarind that you push through small holes at the top to form spaghetti-like strands of candy. Read the rest of the article for more on the fun and original candy Mexican’s children (and adults) enjoy.

Fell asleep as we were leaving the D.F. and when I woke up and looked out the window we were in the Misty Mountains, ironic as I am currently reading The Hobbit.

See, you were born dead. It’s how they spit in your face and claim to be the holy ones. It’s how they spit in your face, and claim to be the holy ones!

These days, you can pick up a wife like you’d pick up a day laborer.
